I quit.
After much debate, research and frantic calculating, I left a fairly decent position at an established tech start-up to pursue my own thing. That "thing" being the wholesale restructuring of PR, one impression at a time.
I originally thought firms billed too much for not enough work done, and then I quickly realized what the problem actually was: PR's doing it wrong.
Forget all the hype surrounding the adoption of social media over traditional media, where PR falls down (hard) is in all of the busywork, and not focusing deeply enough on (wait for it): results. Results are achieved via tools, time, attitude and trust. NOT by buying lists and subscribing to editorial calendars. Nor are they achieved through various fees, dues and association memberships (well, not exclusively). And big spendy PR lunches may land you a client but not necessarily faith and teamwork.
Enough words here. Drop me a note or find me on the 'nets, I'd love to chat up your business and learn more about you.
